The diorama was created by a big group of artists (about 100 people) to the order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union, specially for the National Exhibition of 1977 in the USA. The main artist of the project was Efim Deshalit. The small-scale model of Moscow was exhibited in Deer Park in New-York and then around the whole world. In the 1980ies it won a gold medal in Leipzig Fair as a masterpiece of breadboard design. On arrival to its native country, the diorama was demonstrated at one of the pavilions of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy and the Shopping Center at Nametkina Street. Then it was put up for auction, but couldn't find its customer in the capital for a long time. They say that Louis Armstrong wanted to buy it for Disneyland, but the author strongly objected as he wanted his art work to stay in Russia. Finally, the diorama was bought specially for the exhibit at Ukraina Hotel.
