Parks hold first acrobatic rock‘n’roll and boogie-woogie lessons

Acrobatic rock‘n’roll is not only a sightly and dynamic sport but an entertaining hobby welcoming to people with different physical abilities and levels of training.

“Many people come to the lessons in parks, both children and adults; we have no age limits. After warming up, we learn the rock‘n’roll basic movements – the main move, step, kick and partnering. People who come once, as a rule, come to the next lesson. By the end of the season, these students can show elementary acrobatic moves. It is not difficult – the main thing is to be willing, and the instructor’s aim is to make it interesting and enjoyable,” instructor Ivan Makarov said.

Beginners of all ages are shown basic movements. For those who would like to seriously take up this sport, schools accept children ages six and up.

Acrobatic rock‘n’roll basics will be taught in Gorky Park between 5 pm and 7 pm on Saturdays from 4 June until 27 August. Boogie-woogie secrets will be revealed on Sundays between 6 pm and 8 pm.

In Sokolniki, boogie-woogie lessons will take place on Fridays from 6 pm until 8 pm and acrobatic rock‘n’roll lessons on Thursdays from 4 pm until 6 pm.

The venues will be open weather permitting, so please phone the park in advance to find out if the lesson will be held.

This is already the third summer that Muscovites and tourists can come to city parks to try out dancing.
