The park Gorki Leninskie is located 30km south from Moscow. It takes about one and a half kilometer to get to the estate from the main entrance of the park. The estate was built in the 18th century and was chosen by Lenin for his convalescence after Fanya Kaplin's attempted assassination in 1918. Lenin was a Russian Marxist revolutionary and communist politician who led the October Revolution of 1917. He spent the last months of his life at the estate with his wife and siblings. It was officially turned into a museum in 1938. Near the Lenin Kremlin Office and Apartment Museum in a separate outbuilding, there is a big monument to Lenin (1870-1924).
Also, you can still find a path in the park, which was passed by the Soviet officials carrying the body of Lenin in a funeral procession. The body was carried to the railway station and sent to Moscow. The path is surrounded by chains, to keep people off. Not far from it there is an interesting sculptural composition "The Funeral of the Leader".
Opening hours: 17:00-22:00 on Monday, 10:00-22:00 from Tuesday to Sunday.
Getting there: you should take the metro to Domodedovskaya Metro Station and then take bus no. 439 to the 'muzei' (museum) stop.
