The Main Botanical Garden of Russian Academy of Sciences

The Main Botanical Garden of Russian Academy of Sciences is located in the northeast of the city ("Vladykino" is the nearest metro station). Its area is large. It's a very nice, clean and quite place - an ideal one to take rest in the open air and hide from urban noise or heat, for example, not leaving the city. Besides the exposition with rare and exotic plants, there is a greenhouse in the garden, which you can attend only on an excursion. Also, there is a "Japanese Garden" (with an entrance fee) in the park. It was built in the late eighties with assistance of Japanese Embassy on a project of a famous Japanese landscape architect. Many plants were brought from Japan. Cascades of small waterfalls, ponds, pavilions, pagoda, stone lamps, cherry trees, irises and maple trees...

The garden is open from 10 a.m. to 20 p.m. except Monday and Thursday in summer. In April and October the garden is closed for planting and other kinds of work. Entrance is not free of charge.

The greenhouse works from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m. except Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Japanese garden is open from May 1 to October 15 (except Monday and Thursday) from 12 to 18 p.m. On Saturday, Sunday and holidays - from 12 to 20 p.m.

Entrance is not free of charge.

Also, you should know that there is no opportunity to have a snack there. You can buy only ice-cream and some drinks on the territory. Besides, public conveniences are only at the main entrance.
